Juvederm is a dermal filler that is composed of natural, biodegradable hyaluronic acid. Juvederm is an FDA approved hyaluronic acid dermal filler. Juvederm is a malleable, smooth gel that easily flows into the skin, resulting in more comfort for the patient, while still providing a natural look and feel.
Store Juvederm below 77ºF in a controlled room. Do not freeze and store away from light.
Make sure to discuss your medical history with your doctor, including any and all allergies. Tell your doctor if your are on any medications because some of them may increase the risk of bleeding. Also those going through immunosuppresive therapy may have an increased risk of infection. Do not consume any alcoholic beverages right before or immediately after the procedure.
The effects of Juvederm on individuals under 18, pregnant, breastfeeding, or with a history of scarring or pigmentation disorders has not been studied.
Patient Family Information : Book an appointment with your doctor. Discuss your medical history to make sure that Juvederm is right for you. Most health care practitioners will suggest you avoid any medications that may increase bleeding. You doctor will administer the Juvederm through a syringe. The whole process generally takes between 15-30 minutes. After this administration you should avoid strenuous activities, alcohol, and prolonged exposure to heat or sun for at least 24 hours. Most patients only require one treatment and the results may last up to one year. Although, 6-8 months is common.
Juvederm may not be right for everyone. Those that suffer from severe allergies marked by a previous history of anaphylaxis or the presence of multiple sever allergies should avoid Juvederm. Also, Juvederm should not be used on patients with a history of allergies to gram-positive bacterial proteins.
Sever Side Effects : Common side effects include, temporary injection site reactions such as redness, pain/tenderness, firmness, swelling, lumps/bumps, bruising, itching, and discoloration. As with all skin injection procedures, there is a risk of infection.
