About the Suprep Bowel Kit

Uses and Benefits of the Suprep Bowel Prep Kit

Suprep Bowel Prep Kit (Sodium Sulfate, Potassium Sulfate, Magnesium Sulfate) is indicated for cleaning the colon in adults and children 12 years and older before a colonoscopy. This preparation works by causing diarrhea, which helps to clear the colon. A clean colon allows your healthcare provider to get a clearer view of the inside of your colon during the procedure.

It is not known if the Suprep Bowel Prep Kit is safe or effective for children under 12 years of age.

Ingredients in the Suprep Bowel Prep Kit

The active ingredients in the Suprep Bowel Prep Kit are sodium sulfate, potassium sulfate, and magnesium sulfate.

Inactive ingredients include citric acid, USP, flavoring ingredients, malic acid, FCC, sodium benzoate, NF, sucralose, and purified water, USP.

How to Take the Suprep Bowel Prep Kit

Follow your healthcare provider’s instructions carefully when taking the Suprep Bowel Prep Kit (Sodium Sulfate, Potassium Sulfate, Magnesium Sulfate).

Each dose of the Kit comes in a bottle that must be mixed with water before drinking. It’s important to drink the additional prescribed amount of water, as indicated in the Instructions for Use, to avoid dehydration. One bottle of the Suprep Bowel Prep Kit equals one dose. Two doses are required for complete colonoscopy preparation.

Start your preparation one day before your colonoscopy. On the day before, eat only a light breakfast or drink clear liquids, such as water, strained fruit juice without pulp, lemonade, plain coffee, tea, chicken broth, or gelatin without fruit. For the rest of the day and the following day until two hours before your colonoscopy, drink only clear liquids. Stop drinking all fluids at least two hours before your colonoscopy.

If you experience bloating or stomach discomfort after the first dose, wait until your stomach feels better before taking the second dose.

Who Should Not Take the Suprep Bowel Prep Kit?

Do not take the Suprep Bowel Prep Kit if you have a blockage in your intestine (bowel obstruction), an opening in the wall of your stomach or intestine (bowel perforation), a very dilated intestine (toxic megacolon), or problems with the emptying of food and fluids from your stomach (gastric retention). Additionally, do not take the Kit if you are allergic to any of its ingredients. Refer to the Ingredients Section for more details in the Suprep Bowel Prep Kit.
