About Rinvoq (Upadacitinib)
Uses and Benefits of Rinvoq (Upadacitinib)
Rinvoq (Upadacitinib) is indicated for treating several inflammatory conditions. It is a Janus kinase (JAK) inhibitor that helps reduce inflammation in the body.
It treats adults with moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, and ankylosing spondylitis when one or more tumor necrosis factor (TNF) blockers did not work well or were not tolerated.
It also treats adults and children 12 years and older with moderate to severe eczema (atopic dermatitis) that is not well controlled by other pills or injections, including biologic medicines.
Additionally, it treats adults with non-radiographic axial spondyloarthritis with objective signs of inflammation when a TNF blocker did not work well or was not tolerated.
For children 2 years and older, it treats polyarticular juvenile idiopathic arthritis (pJIA) and psoriatic arthritis when one or more TNF blockers did not work well or were not tolerated.
The safety and effectiveness of the medication in children with ankylosing spondylitis, non-radiographic axial spondyloarthritis, ulcerative colitis, or Crohn’s disease are unknown. It is also unknown if Rinvoq is safe and effective in children under 12 years with atopic dermatitis or in children under 2 years with pJIA or psoriatic arthritis.
