About Qvar RediHaler (Beclomethasone Dipropionate)
Uses and Benefits of Qvar RediHaler (Beclomethasone Dipropionate)
Qvar RediHaler (Beclomethasone Dipropionate), a breath-actuated inhaled prescription medicine, is indicated for the maintenance treatment of asthma. It helps prevent and control asthma symptoms in individuals aged 4 years and older.
This medication is not intended for the quick relief of sudden breathing problems. The safety and effectiveness of Qvar RediHaler have not been established for children under 4 years old.
Ingredients in Qvar RediHaler (Beclomethasone Dipropionate)
The active ingredient in Qvar RediHaler is beclomethasone dipropionate. Inactive ingredients include propellant HFA-134a and ethanol.
How to Use Qvar RediHaler (Beclomethasone Dipropionate)?
Follow your doctor’s prescription exactly.
Do not use the inhaler more often than prescribed. Do not shake the inhaler before use, especially with the cap open, as this could cause the device to accidentally release medicine before you are ready to take it. You do not need to prime the inhaler. If your child needs to use the autohaler, supervise them to ensure correct use.
Do not change or stop using it or other asthma medications unless instructed by your doctor. Your healthcare provider will change your medicines as needed. It must be used regularly. It may take 2 to 4 weeks, or longer, for asthma symptoms to improve. Continue using it, even if you feel better, unless directed otherwise. The Autohaler is available in two strengths (40 and 80 mcg).
Your doctor will prescribe the right strength for you. Be aware of the differences between the Autohaler and other inhaled medications, including their appearance and use. It does not relieve sudden asthma symptoms. Always have a rescue inhaler with you for sudden symptoms. Use your rescue inhaler if you have breathing problems between doses of Qvar RediHaler. If you do not have a rescue inhaler, call your healthcare provider to have a rescue inhaler prescribed for you.
After each dose, rinse your mouth with water and spit it out. This reduces the risk of a yeast infection (thrush) in your mouth and throat. Do not spray it in your eyes or face. If it gets in your eyes, rinse them with water. If irritation persists, contact your doctor.
Who Should Not Use Qvar RediHaler (Beclomethasone Dipropionate)?
Do not use it if you are allergic to beclomethasone dipropionate or any other ingredients in the inhaler. Refer to the ingredient list for more details. Do not use the Autohaler to treat sudden, severe asthma symptoms or as a rescue inhaler.
