Uses and Benefits of ProAir Respiclick (albuterol sulfate)
ProAir RespiClick (albuterol sulfate) is indicated for use in adults and children 4 years and older. It treats or prevents bronchospasm in people with reversible obstructive airway disease. Also, it helps to prevent exercise-induced bronchospasm. It is not known if the inhaler is safe or effective in children under 4 years old.
Ingredients in ProAir Respiclick (albuterol sulfate)
The active ingredient in ProAir RespiClick is albuterol sulfate. Inactive ingredients include lactose, which may contain milk proteins.
How to Take ProAir Respiclick (albuterol sulfate)?
Follow your doctor’s prescription exactly.
Use ProAir RespiClick (albuterol sulfate) only as directed. Each dose should last 4 to 6 hours. Do not take extra doses or increase the dose without your doctor’s approval. If your child uses the inhaler, watch closely to make sure they use it correctly. Your doctor will show you how your child should use the inhaler. Children should use this inhaler under adult supervision.
Do not use a spacer or volume holding chamber with this inhaler. ProAir RespiClick does not need priming. Do not use other inhaled rescue or asthma medicines unless your doctor approves. Get medical help right away if ProAir RespiClick no longer helps your symptoms. Also seek help if your symptoms get worse or you need the inhaler more often. Call your doctor if wheezing or breathing trouble worsens over hours or days. You may need another medicine, such as a corticosteroid.
Preparing Your Inhaler
Open the foil pouch before first use. The inhaler has two parts:
- A white body with the mouthpiece
- A red cap that covers the mouthpiece
There is a dose counter on the back of the inhaler. It shows how many doses are left.
Your inhaler contains 200 doses. When 20 doses remain, the counter turns red. At this point, refill your prescription or ask your doctor for another inhaler. When the counter shows “0,” the inhaler is empty. Stop using it and throw it away.
Step 1: Open
Hold the inhaler upright. Open the red cap fully until you hear a “click.” This sound means a dose is ready. Do not open the cap unless you are ready to take a dose. Always hold the inhaler upright when opening the cap. Do not open the cap in any other position.
Step 2: Inhale
Before inhaling, breathe out fully through your mouth. Do not exhale into the inhaler. Place the mouthpiece in your mouth. Close your lips tightly around it. Do not block the vent above the mouthpiece with your lips or fingers.
Breathe in quickly and deeply through your mouth to inhale the dose. Remove the inhaler from your mouth. Hold your breath for about 10 seconds or as long as you can. The inhaler releases the medicine as a fine powder. You may not taste or feel it. Do not take another dose even if you do not feel or taste the medicine.
Step 3: Close
Close the red cap firmly over the mouthpiece. Always close the cap after each inhalation. This prepares your inhaler for the next dose. If you need another dose, close the cap and repeat Steps 1 to 3.
Important Reminders
Never open the cap unless you’re ready to take your dose. You must hear the “click” sound when opening the cap to activate a dose.
ProAir RespiClick has no activation button or canister. Opening the cap readies the dose automatically. Use the inhaler exactly as instructed. For full instructions with images, see the “Instructions for Use” section at the end of the patient leaflet. For current information, visit fda.gov.
Who Should Not Take ProAir Respiclick (albuterol sulfate)?

Check the ingredient list at the end of the leaflet to identify possible allergens.
