About FML Forte
Uses and Benefits of FML Forte
FML Forte is indicated for the treatment of eye inflammation.
Ingredients in FML Forte
The active ingredient in FML Forte is fluorometholone. It is responsible for reducing inflammation in the eyes.
Inactive ingredients include benzalkonium chloride 0.005% (w/v) as a preservative, polyvinyl alcohol, edetate disodium, sodium chloride, sodium phosphate monobasic monohydrate, sodium phosphate dibasic heptahydrate, polysorbate 80, sodium hydroxide to adjust pH, and purified water.
How to Use FML Forte?
Follow your doctor’s prescription exactly.
Apply 1-2 drops into the conjunctival sac (a space between the lower eyelid and eye- see pictogram) two to four times daily. During the first 24 to 48 hours, the dosage may be safely increased to 2 drops every 4 hours. Use FML FORTE® for as long as your doctor tells you. Do not stop treatment early.
Shake the bottle before use. Wash your hands. Tilt your head back and look at the ceiling. Gently pull the lower eyelid down to form a small pocket. Turn the bottle upside down and squeeze one or two drops into each eye that needs treatment. Release the lower lid and close your eyes for 30 seconds.
If a drop misses your eye, try again. Close the cap immediately after use. Wipe away any excess liquid from your face. Wash your hands to remove any medication. To avoid infection, do not let the tip of the bottle touch your eye, eyelid, or anything else. This bottle should be used by one person only, as sharing may spread infection.
If your symptoms do not improve after two days, contact your doctor. If you develop an eye infection or new symptoms, consult your doctor or pharmacist.</p>
Wait at least 15 minutes before applying FML Forte if you are using other eye medications.
Overdose:
In case of accidental oral ingestion or overdose, contact your doctor, local poison control center, or the nearest hospital emergency department, even if you have no symptoms.
If you use too many drops, return to your normal dosing schedule the next day.
Missed Dose:
If you forget to apply FML Forte at your usual time, apply it as soon as you remember. Then, continue with your regular schedule. Do not apply more than one dose at a time to make up for a missed dose.
Who Should Not Use FML Forte?
Do not use FML Forte if you are allergic to fluorometholone, benzalkonium chloride, or any other ingredients in the medication. Refer to the ‘Ingredients section” for more information on allergens.
Avoid using FML Forte if you have an eye infection, including bacterial, viral (such as herpes simplex keratitis, vaccinia, or varicella), or fungal infections. It should also not be used if you have tuberculosis of the eye.

Safety Precautions for FML Forte
Before you use FML Forte, tell your healthcare provider if you have or have ever had glaucoma, which is increased pressure in the eye that can lead to vision loss. FML Forte may increase the risk of glaucoma, especially when it is used for more than 10 days, and your doctor may monitor the pressure in your eyes.
Also, inform your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, or if you are breastfeeding or planning to breastfeed. FML Forte may harm your baby, so consult your doctor before use.
Additionally, tell your healthcare provider if you have an eye infection or other eye conditions, are allergic to fluorometholone, benzalkonium chloride, or any of the ingredients in FML Forte, or if you wear contact lenses. The preservative in FML Forte (benzalkonium chloride) may be absorbed by and discolor soft contact lenses, so it is recommended to remove lenses before use and wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting them.
Storage Guidelines for FML Forte
Store FML Forte between 15°C and 25°C. Keep the medication away from freezing, as this can affect its effectiveness. Always store it in a safe place, out of the reach and sight of children, to ensure their safety.
