About Flamazine Cream
Uses and Benefits of Flamazine Cream
Flamazine Cream is indicated for the treatment of leg ulcers, burns, skin grafts, incisions, and other clean lesions, abrasions, minor cuts, and wounds. It helps prevent and treat infections by controlling bacterial growth. Flamazine Cream is especially recommended for preventing infection in serious burn victims.
This medication is effective against bacterial infections but does not treat viral infections.
Ingredients in Flamazine Cream
The active ingredient in Flamazine Cream is 1% w/w silver sulfadiazine, which is present in a water-soluble vehicle. The cream has a pH between 3.5 and 6.0.
Inactive ingredients include Polysorbate 60 (vegetable grade), Polysorbate 80 (vegetable grade), Glyceryl Stearate, Cetyl Alcohol, Propylene Glycol, Liquid Paraffin, and Distilled Water.
How to Use Flamazine Cream?
Follow your doctor’s prescription exactly.
Apply Flamazine Cream to the affected area with a depth of 3-5 mm. For burns, clean the wound and apply the cream using a sterile gloved hand or spatula. Reapply the cream every 24 hours or when it has been removed by activity.
For hand and finger burns, apply Flamazine Cream to the burn and enclose the whole hand in a clear plastic bag or glove. Close it at the wrist and encourage movement. Change the dressing every three days or when excess fluid accumulates.
For leg ulcers, fill the ulcer cavity with Flamazine Cream, ensuring a depth of 3-5 mm. Avoid spreading the cream to non-ulcerated areas. Follow with an absorbent pad or gauze dressing and secure with pressure bandaging. Change the dressing every 2-3 days, cleaning and debriding the ulcer before reapplying the cream. Flamazine Cream is not recommended for very exudative leg ulcers.
Reserve a container of Flamazine Cream for a specific patient to avoid contamination.
Overdose:
It is unlikely that using too much Flamazine cream will cause serious symptoms, although the exact effects are unknown. Taking too much sulfadiazine by mouth may cause diarrhea or a feeling of sickness. If you think you have used too much Flamazine Cream, contact your healthcare provider, hospital emergency department, or poison control center right away, even if you don’t have any symptoms.
Missed Dose:
If you forget to apply Flamazine Cream, apply it as soon as you remember. If it’s almost time for your next dose, wait and apply the next dose as scheduled. Do not apply extra Flamazine Cream to make up for a missed dose.
Who Should Not Use Flamazine Cream?
Do not use Flamazine Cream if it is during the last month of your pregnancy, during the first few months after birth for newborn or premature infants, or if you are allergic to silver sulfadiazine, cetyl alcohol, propylene glycol, or any of the other ingredients of Flamazine Cream.

Safety Precautions for Flamazine Cream
You should not use Flamazine Cream if you have previously had allergic reactions to sulfonamides or if you have a glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency, as using sulfonamides like Flamazine Cream can lead to hemolysis (red blood cell breakdown).
It is also not recommended if you have liver or kidney problems or have previously had low white blood cell levels. Leukopenia (lowered white blood cell levels) occurs after the use of Flamazine Cream, and your doctor may order tests to monitor your white blood cell count while you take the medication.
