About Eumovate Cream
Uses and Benefits of Eumovate Cream
Eumovate Cream is indicated for the treatment of various skin conditions. It works by reducing redness, swelling, and irritation. It helps to relieve symptoms of certain skin problems, including seborrhoeic eczema (red, inflamed skin with greasy, yellowish or white scales) and photodermatitis (a skin reaction triggered by sunlight exposure), Skin rash caused by allergies or irritants (irritant and allergic contact dermatitis), Inflammation of the outer ear and Prurigo nodularis (itchy nodules on the arms or legs)
Ingredients in Eumovate Cream
The active ingredient in Eumovate Cream is 0.05% clobetasone butyrate BP. Inactive ingredients include glycerol, glycerol monostearate, cetostearyl alcohol, beeswax substitute 6621, Arlacel 165, dimethicone 20, chlorocresol, sodium citrate, citric acid monohydrate, and purified water.
How to Use Eumovate Cream?
Follow your doctor’s instructions exactly when using Eumovate Cream.
Apply it to the affected area once or twice a day, or as directed by your doctor. Wash your hands before applying the cream and after you’re done, unless you’re treating your hands. Squeeze out the right amount of cream, which is about half a fingertip, to cover an area the size of your palm. Gently rub the cream onto the skin. If you are using an emollient (moisturizing cream), allow time for the cream to absorb before applying the emollient.
Do not use more than two applications of Eumovate Cream per day. Do not use it for more than 4 weeks unless directed by your doctor. Prolonged use may cause thinning and permanent damage to the skin. If your condition does not improve after 4 weeks, contact your doctor.
If you forget to apply the cream, use it as soon as you remember. Avoid applying extra cream to make up for the missed dose. If remembering doses is difficult, ask your pharmacist for advice.
In case too much cream is used, there is usually no need to worry, but try to keep to the fingertip unit. If a large amount is swallowed, rinse your mouth with water and seek immediate medical attention by calling your doctor or the National Poisons Centre at 0800 POISON (0800 764 766).
Who Should Not Use Eumovate Cream?
Avoid using Eumovate Cream if you are allergic to clobetasone butyrate or any of the ingredients in the cream. If you have an allergy to similar medicines like hydrocortisone, avoid using this cream. Signs of an allergic reaction may include shortness of breath, wheezing, difficulty breathing, swelling of the face, lips, or tongue, and skin rash or hives.
It should not be used to treat infected skin unless you are also using an anti-infective medicine. It is not recommended for acne, rosacea (a condition causing redness and bumps on the face), or itchy, non-inflamed skin. If any of these apply to you, consult your doctor or pharmacist before use.
This cream should not be used if you are pregnant, trying to become pregnant, or breastfeeding unless advised by your doctor. When breastfeeding, avoid applying the cream to your breast area to prevent the baby from ingesting it.
Application to certain areas such as the face (except for the ears and neck), groin, private parts, or between your toes should be avoided. Take care to prevent the cream from getting into your eyes, especially when applying near the eyelids.
Do not use the cream after the expiry date (EXP) printed on the packaging or if the packaging is damaged or tampered with.
