About the Benefits of Erythrocin

Uses and Benefits of Erythrocin

Erythrocin is indicated for the treatment of mild to moderate infections caused by specific microorganisms, as determined by your doctor. These infections include Upper and lower respiratory tract infections, Skin and soft tissue infections, including acne, and sexually transmitted infections, including syphilis and chlamydia

Ingredients in Erythrocin

The active ingredient in Erythro-Base is erythromycin. This antibiotic helps treat bacterial infections.

Inactive ingredients include microcrystalline cellulose, croscarmellose sodium, stearic acid, magnesium stearate, colloidal silicon dioxide, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose 2910 E5, polyethylene glycol 3350, titanium dioxide, carnauba wax, and D&C Red #30 Aluminum Lake 30%.

How to Take Erythrocin?

Follow your doctor’s prescription exactly.

Take Erythrocin for at least 30 minutes and preferably 2 hours before or after a meal. Swallow the medication whole with water. Take erythromycin only to treat bacterial infections. It does not work for viral infections like the common cold. Even if you feel better early during treatment, complete the entire prescribed course.

Skipping doses or stopping early may reduce effectiveness and increase the risk of bacterial resistance in the future. This medication is for your use only. Do not share it with others, even if they have similar symptoms, as it may harm them.

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember unless it is close to your next dose. Do not take two doses at the same time.

In case of an overdose, contact a healthcare provider or Poison Control Center immediately, even if you do not notice any symptoms.

Who Should Not Take Erythro-Base (Erythromycin)?

Do not take Erythro-Base (erythromycin) if you are allergic to erythromycin or any of its nonmedicinal ingredients. Refer to the “Ingredients section” for details about inactive ingredients.

Do not take Erythro-Base if you are using any of the following medications: dihydroergotamine or ergotamine (for migraines), cisapride (for stomach disorders), astemizole or terfenadine (antihistamines for allergies), or pimozide (for psychiatric disorders).

Note that some of these medications may no longer be available. Consult your doctor or pharmacist for more information.
