About Emadine

Uses and Benefits of Emadine

Emadine is indicated for the treatment of seasonal allergic conjunctivitis, a condition that causes allergic reactions in the eyes.

Ingredients in Emadine

The active ingredient in Emadine is emedastine difumarate, which provides 0.5 mg of emedastine per dose. Inactive ingredients include benzalkonium chloride (0.01%) as a preservative, tromethamine, sodium chloride, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, hydrochloric acid, sodium hydroxide (to adjust pH), and purified water. The solution has a pH of approximately 7.4 and an osmolality of about 300 mOsm/kg.

How to Use Emadine?

Follow your doctor’s prescription exactly.

Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water before using the medication. Tilt your head back, pull down your lower eyelid to create a pocket, and hold the dropper close to your eye without touching it. Squeeze the bottle gently to release one drop into your eye.

Close your eyes for 1-2 minutes and gently press the inner corner near your nose to prevent drainage. If directed, repeat with your other eye. Store the bottle upright at room temperature. Avoid touching the dropper tip to any surface to prevent contamination.

Do not use the drops if the solution is discolored or cloudy. If your eyes are red, do not wear contact lenses. Wait at least 10 minutes after using Emadine before reinserting lenses. Use only the prescribed amount and do not share your eye drops with anyone.

Complete the full course of treatment and do not use Emadine longer than your doctor recommends. If you have any concerns about dosage or usage, contact your healthcare provider.

Who Should Not Use Emadine?

Do not use Emadine if you are allergic to emedastine difumarate or any of its components. Refer to the ‘Ingredients in Emadine’ section for more details.
