Patient Family Information : Adipex should be taken exactly as your doctor prescribed it. Take Adipex with a full glass of water. Adipex is best taken on an empty stomach before breakfast, or at least 10-14 hours before bedtime. Do not crush, chew, break, or open an extended-release capsule; swallow the pill whole. Do not stop taking Adipex without first taking to your doctor.
Do not take Adipex if you have used a MAO inhibitor within the past 14 days. Life-threatening side-effects may occur if you take Adipex before the MAO inhibitor has cleared from your body. Do not take Adipex with any other diet medications as it may cause a rare fatal lung disorder to develop. Do not take this medication if you are allergic to Adipex, other stimulants, or if you have heart disease, high blood pressure, arteriosclerosis, an overactive thyroid, glaucoma, and an agitated state or if you have a history of drug or alcohol abuse. Do not take Adipex in the morning as it may cause sleep problems. Do not take Adipex if you are under the age of 16.
Sever Side Effects : Serious side effects may include: allergic reaction; chest pain, swelling in your ankles or feet, feeling light-headed, fainting, or feeling short of breath, even with mild exertion; fast or uneven heartbeat; unusual thoughts or behavior, feeling restless
Less severe side effects can include: feeling nervous or anxious; headache, dizziness, tremors; trouble sleeping; dry mouth or an unpleasant taste in your mouth; diarrhea or constipation; or itching.
