Drug Description :

Indication : Atacand is a medicine used to treat high blood pressure. Atacand can be used by itself, but may also be prescribed with other medications. Some patients may take Atacand to treat heart failure. Atacand works by relaxing the blood vessels, which results in lower blood pressure.

Storage : Keep Atacand stored at 77 degrees F. Brief storage at temperatures between 59 and 86 degrees F is permitted. Store away from heat, moisture, and light.

Also let your doctor know if you are taking any medication, herbal preparation, or dietary supplements and let your doctor know what you are allergic to. Let your doctor know if you are able to become pregnant, have a history of angiodema, have a history of heart problems, blood vessel problems, blood flow problems, liver or kidney problems, diabetes, history of stroke or recent heart attack, if you are dehydrated or have low blood volume, if you have an electrolyte problem, if you’re on a low-salt diet, if you are on dialysis, or are scheduled for a major surgery.

Warnings : Because Atacand may cause dizziness, lightheadedness, or fainting do not drive, operate machinery, or partake in any other activities that may become dangerous. Atacand may cause serious side effects, make sure to contact your doctor immediately if you think you may be experiencing one. Atacand may not work as well in patients with an African background. Atacand should be used with extreme caution in children and the elderly. Atacand may cause birth defects or fetal death if it is taken while pregnant. Avoid taking Atacand if you are breastfeeding, are pregnant, or may become pregnant.

Patient Family Information  : Take Atacand as it was prescribed to you by the doctor. Atacand can be taken with or without food. Remember to take Atacand on a regular schedule in order to get the full benefit from it. Continue to take Atacand even if you feel better, unless directed to do otherwise by a health care professional.
