Description

Oxsoralen Lotion is a prescription medication that is used in addition to UVA light therapy to treat vitiligo. Oxsoralen Lotion works as a natural enhancer to increase the body’s sensitivity to ultraviolet light.

Oxsoralen Lotion is usually distributed in a medical setting and will not require patient storage.

Before taking Oxsoralen Lotion, tell your doctor if you: have any allergies to foods, drugs or other substances; have a skin pigment disorder; are fair-skinned; have a history of coal tar UV treatment; you have any other skin conditions; you have an infection; or if you have any type of heart or blood vessel disease. You may require a special dosage in order to safely take this medication. If you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant while taking Oxsoralen Lotion, tell your doctor before you begin taking Oxsoralen Lotion. There are several drugs that interfere with the effectiveness of this medication; if you are currently taking any other medications (prescription or nonprescription) let your doctor know beforehand.

Following Oxsoralen Lotion and UVA treatment, you must protect your eyes and skin from all forms of natural sunlight, by wearing wraparound sunglasses (even when indoors), protective clothing (including a hat and gloves) and sunscreen.

Do not take Oxsoralen Lotion if you are allergic to any of its ingredients. If you have a history of skin cancer, skin that is naturally sensitive to sun or light, or if you have a light-sensitive disease, taking Oxsoralen Lotion is not recommended.

Sever Side Effects : Severe Side Effects: allergic reaction; blisters, pimples or skin rash; severe itching, swelling or skin discomfort; or severe skin redness (burns) within twenty-four hours after UVA treatment.

Common Side Effects: mild skin itching or tenderness; or skin dryness and redness.
